Hampton Court is the longest of the RHS shows, opening on the Monday and closing on the Sunday. As usual for this show the weather plays a huge part, either being very hot or very wet. This year during build up temperatures in the marquee reached 29 degrees which isn’t good for the flowers. Our exhibit was finished just in time for judging at 9.30 am on the Monday. Gala day starts at 10.30 and the day culminates in a spectacular firework display in front of the Palace.
Our display which was a mix of dahlias and gladioli was awarded a gold medal. Top selling varieties were Rigoletto, Mahler, Prima Verde and a new blue seedling of gladioli. Top selling dahlia varieties were Karma Sangria and Karma Irene.
With the weather being so warm all week we were constantly changing varieties on the display to keep the exhibit looking fresh. Sales of our 3 litre potted dahlia’s went very well and we will be growing more varieties next year.
