Fritillaria imperialis Rubra is an impressive stately plant that grows to a height of nearly 1 metre.  It has lance-shaped green leaves out of which grows a straight vertical stem that supports a crown of burnt orange finely striped hanging bells topped with a tuft of green leaves.  It is outstanding in a border, has long-lasting flowers and naturalises readily.
