Gladiolus byzantinus

Gladiolus communis subsp. byzantinus, commonly known as 'Whistling Jacks' in the S-W of the UK, is a hardy, easy to grow, species gladiolus that flowers from May to July and naturalises readily.  It has graceful magenta coloured flowers with fine white flashes.  The excellence of this species has been recognised with the RHS Award of Garden Merit.  It is equally good for garden beds and borders or for growing in pots, and makes a lovely cut flower.  Our corms are from true G. byzantinus stock.
